Every day should be a spiritual revolution against the selfish , self centered-ness of sin that resides in each one of us.
As for me , I will praise my God, his resurrected Son and the Holy Spirit inside me. Many people consider this folly and prefer an idol they can see or touch to fill their need. Any higher power may be good for them, but as for me , I choose the everlasting life that our risen Savior promises.
The concept of a chosen people to be saved while others left behind is extremely problematic and not a little arrogant, with all due respect to the concept...

I like the AA spiritual program
My cat works great as a higher power, complete with occasional blood sacrifice....

In AA they'd often say
A doorknob is a higher power you can use any as long as it ain't yourself...
