….against fear!
A couple of weeks ago, I included a podcast with Dr. Mark McDonald being interviewed on Covexit. This was a two part interview and it was excellent. If you have not listened, you can find it here (episode 1) and here (episode 2). In the interview, Dr. McDonald discusses his recent book, ‘United States of FEAR’. I purchased the book because I have a keen interest in the fear component of the pandemic and wanted to educate myself to be able to help others. I serve a population so riddled with fear they have canceled life and avoided family & friends for almost two years. For some of our patients, we are their only human connection outside of those whom reside within their household. The book was amazing, it is a very quick read and you will be nodding your head in agreement. Sadly, it didn’t really offer me much advice as to how to help beyond my trained skills as a dentist. But, it did give me a historical perspective that I had not considered. You can purchase the book here.
Before Dr. Robert Malone ‘broke the internet’ with the term Mass Formation Psychosis, Dr. McDonald writes about Mass Delusional Psychosis being part of human history. This phenomenon is in part responsible for the Dutch tulip mania of the 17th century, the Western European witch mania of the 16th and 17th centuries and the German & Japanese ultra nationalist hysteria of the 20th century.
As we advance further into the 20th century, Dr. McDonald lays the ground work developing the United States of fear. He begins with the terrorization of women and then ties in the feminization of American men.
In 2017, over 7 million American men aged twenty-five through fifty-four were living in their parents’ basement, not working and not looking for work. They retreated from the world to avoid facing the threat of failure and rejection.
A man who lacks courage, lacks self-respect, and a man who does not respect himself cannot effectively engage with women. The vacuum of male courage in our society has been growing for years, but it recently made possible the societal hysteria that led to mass delusional psychosis disproportionately affecting women.
The more educated the man—a four year college degree or higher level of education—the less masculine he felt. (2017 & 2019) Pew Research studies.
As he presents this historical perspective it starts to make sense how we got here. Our fear did not occur in a vacuum. The seed was planted many years ago and it has been watered and nourished in our public school system, in higher education and in the degradation of the family. We created a society that doesn’t depend on their families and they no longer go to church. They look up, but they don’t look to God, they look to Government. When you come to understand the set up, it is easy to see how we fell into a Mass Psychosis. A few more excerpts:
All delusions, though, are by definition irrational. This is what makes them pathologic. The harm they bring to the individual who holds them comes from a diminished capacity to live with reality. They also are impervious to reason; otherwise, they would simply be wrong-headed opinions that change once confronted with reality.
When I begin my work with patients, I remind them that everything starts with a shared commitment to reality. The goal of therapy is not to feel good—it is to live in reality, regardless of how it may feel. Over time, patience can modulate the way they feel, but they can never modulate reality itself, as it exists independent of them. Attempting to redefine reality is delusional and serves only as a defense against emotional discomfort.
When I read this, I think of all the children who are suffering from gender confusion. Instead of helping them live in reality, our society is fanning the flames of their delusion.
Perhaps my favorite line:
Attending an American university today is nothing more than a four-year pampering at an over-priced country club, reinforcing youthful narcissism and breeding disgust towards truth, tradition and American values in general.
