A week or so ago, I wrote about the experience I had with the NC Physicians for Freedom as we presented to a group of legislatures in Raleigh. One of the state senators (Joyce Krawiec) was moved by the experiences she heard from the providers who shared their stories wrote this in support of our efforts. This is such a positive outcome! The legislators have only been hearing one side of the story and we had the opportunity to open some eyes.
The NCPFF is a grassroots movement working to defend the doctor patient relationship and address policy issues that are facing healthcare providers. One of the leaders of the NCPFF previously worked for Ben Carson and then more recently in health policy for the Trump administration. The NCPFF leaders are working tirelessly to educate and encourage those who can have impact with their mission. As with any organization in its infancy, funding is crucial.
Many of us feel quite helpless in our ability and effort to have impact as we watch all that we value crash around us. One way of multiplying our efforts is by donating to organizations that support our values and beliefs. If healthcare choice and the doctor patient relationship is important to you, please consider donating to the NCPFF. Here is a link to their GiveSendGo campaign.
In honor of Jeff Childers, may I make the request to give your donation in any amount that ends in ‘2’. Unpacking Truth reaches 150-600 inboxes daily and it would be nice to show NCPFF our support. Please consider a donation of $12, $22,….. $102 or whatever you are able. Please share this email with friends and family who may also wish to help!
Here’s a recent story about how Jeff’s readers ‘multiplied’ Florida representative Joe Harding, the sponsor of Parents’s Right in Education Bill:
A Strange New Science by Joyce Krawiec:
America’s lockdowns began exactly two years ago. Isn’t it amazing how fast science can change? I guess since we’re just ordinary people, “science” is way over our heads.
In the last few weeks, many blue states have decided to take a break from “science”. After worshiping at the altar of the CDC, now they appear to think that organization doesn’t know so much after all. Leaders have decided to lift restrictions, even though the CDC disagrees with that recommendation. Many mask restrictions and Covid protocols were scheduled to end on March 1st. Does that mean that the wicked virus was laying in wait, heard the news, and vanished on February 28.? I guess that’s how it works. After all, it is “science.”
A little over a month ago, we were averaging around 800,000 new Covid cases per day. Thankfully, the numbers are falling but still significantly higher than Lord Fauci said was the magic number to lift restrictions. Dr. Fauci has said that, “we would need to average well below 10,000” cases per day before we could consider even a “degree of normalcy.” Currently we are averaging about 45,000 cases per day and 1800 deaths. That’s not even close to Dr. Fauci’s magic number picked out of the sky. So why the turnaround and defying “science?” Perhaps, there is a sense that people have had enough. Many have decided that the damage that has been done is enough and it must end now.
The fight against Covid has been long and destructive. We have constantly heard the changes in the science until many folks don’t trust the science anymore. We know that masking children has been detrimental to their learning and emotional health. We have no idea what the long term effects of the vaccine might be. After all, it’s never been used before and was rushed to the market for Emergency Use.
The most upsetting part of this entire disaster is the fact that many voices were silenced. Many scientists, who may have had valid ideas, were not allowed to be part of the conversation.
I met this past week with a large group of medical providers. They are scattered throughout the state and the stories they told were unbelievable. Some of these providers practice in large medical facilities while others are in independent practices. Only a few can talk publicly about their experiences for fear of losing their jobs. Many have been threatened with revocation of their license for disagreeing with the established protocols of Covid treatment.
One provider told me that she started running an underground treatment operation with patients who came to the hospital in order to get them treated. At that time, patients who came to the Emergency Room for treatment were told to go home and come back if their oxygen level drops below 80. If they did return, they were placed on a ventilator. By then, it’s usually too late for successful treatment. At that time, there were no approved treatments for Covid. So, patients were left to recover on their own or face the non-treatment at the hospital.
These physicians and providers that I met with, were not willing to subject their patients to those options. They studied the “SCIENCE” and looked at lots of data and started recommending treatment for their patients. They even had a recommended prophylactic protocol to defend against contracting the disease. That was not acceptable to some. Suddenly, there was no concern about the doctor/patient relationship and no concern that decisions should be made between the patient and the doctor.
One of the docs commented that in medical school they are taught to think “outside the box” and to explore ways to treat patients. The first rule is to do no harm. His opinion was not prescribing any medication that might help your patient, is doing much harm. He went on to say that we were practicing corporate medicine. The CEO decides what treatment is acceptable and everybody follows along. With this method, why do we need doctors? Anybody can deliver a message that is handed down from a higher authority. Doctors don’t need to spend their lives getting trained and spend millions of dollars, if they are not allowed to use the medical training they receive.
One of the doctors in the group said that his practice has likely treated more Covid patients than any other in our state. He has treated several thousand and has only lost one patient who came to him very late. The treatment these physicians were prescribing were older very cheap drugs and other supplements. These medications are widely used for various illnesses and are very effective and have been around for 50 years. There are practically no side effects.
When word spread that this treatment was available, the Pharmacy Board advised pharmacists not to fill the prescriptions. Pharmacists were told that it would cause a run on the meds and there wasn’t enough for treatment. A compound pharmacist was present at the meeting. Her response was that this was not true. She had plenty of the materials to produce it but was threatened with severe consequences if she produced or dispensed it.
These providers have had complaints filed against them with the Medical Board. Any complaints must be investigated. This process takes much of the physician's time and lots of money to prove their innocence. None of the complaints are from patients nor are they charged with causing any harm. Most of the complaints are silly, in my opinion. One complaint had to do with one group of doctors putting out a recommended protocol for prevention to their own patients.
I was appalled by the testimonies of these providers and the lengths they have had to go to in order to treat their patients the way they have been trained to do.
Follow the SCIENCE? Science, first and foremost, should be about saving lives. Who better to make that decision than a doctor and the patient? This atrocity should not be happening. I am committed to allowing providers to practice medicine with the informed consent of their patient, without interference from any higher authority.
