Good post! About ten years ago I decided to take Vit. K2 to see if I could reverse my mandibular tori (bony growths on my jaws). The short answer is no. I believe the mandibular tori arise when the bone is too soft to handle stresses from grinding and clenching teeth (a stress response). I don't think my tori have gotten any worse (and I wear a bite guard at night now too), but I was really hoping to reverse them.

I could not take Vitamin D3 for many years because it either caused my lower abdominal cramping or kidney pain. When I tried the Standard Process Cataplex D, that was the first one that worked for me, as it also contains fat-soluble vitamin A, another co-factor needed for proper vitamin D metabolism along with magnesium, zinc and boron. Getting all the factors is important unless you can get Vitamin D from the sun.

I use Life Extension's MegaK2 (a 45 mg MK-4 form which has been shown clinically to reverse osteoporosis) and a 100 mcg MK-7 daily along with one Life Extension Super K containing all the K's (K1, K2 (MK-7) and K2 (MK-4). Hoping to avoid the genetic predisposition of coronary artery disease!

I learned about calcium mismanagement in the body from Dr. Thomas Levy's book, Death by Calcium. He has another book on Magnesium, as well as his classic books, The Toxic Tooth, and Curing the Incurable (on IV Vitamin C). Magnesium is essential to good calcium management in the body! Most people have adequate calcium from their diet, but insufficient magnesium, which can lead to heart arrhythmias, A-fib and more. These days, the proliferation of wireless (microwave) devices causes the inappropriate release of Ca+2 (calcium) ions from nerve tissue (especially) in the body, resulting in myriad adverse health effects. It's the electric field component of the microwaves from wireless device that inappropriately triggers voltage gated calcium channels (VGCCs) to release the calcium ions. VGCCs are found in nerve tissue and in high concentrations also in the heart. Magnesium is therefore very protective while vitamin D3 and K2 also help mitigate adverse effects of these excess calcium ions being released. Sadly, we live in a very toxic world.

I just started taking D3+MK7 about 18 mos. ago. I wish my doctoer would have told me about it when she put me on alendronate sodium.
